Steampunk Food

So if one were to have a Steampunk party what would be good steampunk inspired food? Does steampunk even have any food that's associated with it? All I can think of is tea and the sorts of foods you would serve for that.
azurelunatic: Vivid pink Alaskan wild rose. (Default)

I think of espresso, possibly because of Girl Genius.

I also think of travel foods of the era, such as hardtack and jerky.
rogue: Several goblin creatures looking surprised (steampunk | blimpin' ain't easy)

I think it depends on whether you're doing 'high tea' flavoured steampunk, or a grittier 'working class' steampunk. But really, traditional english fare coupled with the odd weird colonial-inspired thing (Indian samosas with your roast beef? :)) might be interesting!
princess: sushi tray (perfect food)

I'm a huge fan of weird fusions, so things like finger sandwiches with wasabi mayo instead of plain, or biscuits made with rice flower, or that sort of thing.

Now that I think about it though, I'd have to say in my heart of hearts my immediate instinct was petit-fours and gin.
